What they don't tell you about being your own boss

There are many things that people do not tell you when you are thinking of becoming your own boss. It is not all rainbows and unicorns, it is pretty difficult.

  1. Being your own boss

I think sometimes it is understandable when you wish that you had a boss to look up to for advice to help you grow, and a boss who was genuinely interested and invested in the same business goals and someone to share the good times and bad times with. Now you are your own boss, it is time for you to sink or swim.

Not much free time

You will soon start to realize that you will not have as much spare time on your hands, as you would like and there is the motivation to succeed because you are responsible for ensuring you can live your life properly without financial worries, but it means that you have to work your fingers to the bone to ensure that your business is successful. Does that sound like a challenge?

You have to work twice as hard

When you are working for someone you are part of a small system. However when you are a small business you practically are the system. You will have to motivate yourself in regards to your schedule, research and design your products and analyzing your performance with your products and websites.

Before you start hiring people it will be you to do more than 10 jobs at a time, but it will mean that your business will grow. You might get help from friends, but you will be the one that you will be the one to ensure whether you sink, or swim.

You will need a hell of a lot of patience to succeed

When starting your business it will take a lot of time to see the growth and a return on your investment because these things do not happen overnight, so do not be discouraged. Whatever sector or area you work in there will be up and down situations, and maybe when it would seem easier to quit than invest in another business, or property, but all investments take time. Having a sound property investment strategy may be all well and good, but you need to ask yourself. “Is this going to be a viable business for me?” Being successful will really test your grit, as an individual and will require you to have the patience of an absolute saint, so stick with it when the going gets tough.

When an entire day does not seem enough anymore

When starting your own business, or even if you already have a business, it can seem like there are not enough hours in the day to simply do everything that you need to do. Very often I am either running around from property to property helping the handyman out, or I am turning a mediocre property into an amazing property, or I am organizing photo shoots and then I see the sun rise, and a new beginning and I feel like sometimes I haven’t achieved, as much as I wanted to achieve, which is why I do my best to ensure that I meet my schedule, and actually take time out occasionally to relax.

Steve Jobs- “If today were the last day of your life would you want to do what you are about to do today?”

Anxiety

Everyone, who owns a business can understand the pressures and the worry of failing. Even when each month you see remarkable progress you can still seem a bit skeptical that maybe that is the best your business can do, and maybe that isn’t good enough. It can be hard to find ways to improve the performance and surpass it, but trust me everyone is in the same boat as you regardless of what business they have.

Martin Luther King - “If you can’t fly, run,

If you can’t run, walk,

If you can’t walk, crawl,

But whatever you do you have

To keep moving forward.”
